Dhawan Gets Past Dhoni, Could Be Soon Caught by KL Rahul

Sikhar Dhawan the left-handed Indian opener has surpassed MS Dhoni in T20 cricket in terms of total runs scored. He has now 1641 runs to his name compared to MS Dhoni’s 1617. Dhawan has taken just 62 matches to get there meanwhile Dhoni took 98. Currently, Dhawan is the third-highest run-scorer for India in T20 international after Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli has made 2843 runs in 84 matches and Rohit Sharma has made 2773 runs in 108 matches.

Dhoni has retired from all formats of International cricket and only plans IPL now. There should not be a direct comparison between DHoni’s numbers and that of Dhawan’s. Dhawan is an opener whereas Dhoni batted at the lower end. It is evident from the average number of balls faced per innings for both these batsmen. Dhawan faces 20.98 balls per innings whereas Dhoni only got 15.08.

In terms of balls faced KL Rahul is at the top among Indian batsmen with 26.55 balls per innings and if he plays with the similar form he could easily get past Dhawan. Rahul has made 1542 runs in just 44 T20 internationals. His average of 45.4 is among the highest in the world cricket at the moment.
