IPL 2020 – MI vs RR: Dream11 Predictions
All teams have played a good number of games so far and look settled in their respective quest for the IPL trophy. In the 20th match of this year’s tournament, the Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians lock horns in Abu Dhabi. Lets looks ate both team’s progress in the IPL and predict a good Dream11 team.
Mumbai Indians
They started badly but have now gotten into the groove. With every player having performed at one stage or the other (bar Hardik maybe), it looks like MI have finally settled into a match-winning XI. The top order of De Cock and Rohit is rock solid as ever. Rohit has yet to play his patented big innings but he has shown in flashes what he’s capable of, and it’s just a matter of time we get to see an in-form Rohit Sharma destroying the opponents. De Cock scored 67 off 39 balls in the last match and has looked as good as ever. Ishan Kishan and SuryaKumar Yadav have also been performing consistently for the team since the start. Pandya is yet to find his best form and given a great bowing line of MI he has yet to bowl. Krunal’s form was in question at the beginning of the tournament but with a quickfire 20 of 4 balls a wicket he’s slowly creeping up towards form as well.
Mumbai have a very good bowling line up with the pace trio of Bumrah-Boult-Pattinson. Although Bumrah has not been at his best, he still is good enough to take Mumbai to a win. Hardik has yet to bowl in the IPL largely due to the fact that Pollard has started bowling a good number of his quota.
Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals started the IPL on the front foot but have lagged behind with two losses on the trot. Sanju Samson has a very poor IPL record after 5 games in each year’s tournament. He manages to start explosively and his form dies down as the league progresses. This year is currently following the same trajectory for him. After 74 and 85 in the first two games, he has scored 8 and 4 in the last two. Similarly, Steve Smith scored 69 and 50 in the first two games and 5 and 3 after that. The batting woes can be credited to these two batsmen who have underperformed drastically in the last two games. Buttler was selected in the team after a poor start by Jaiswal in the first game but he hasn’t performed anywhere to his best. This came could see the return of Jaiswal who is a really bright prospect. Ben Stokes could not come soon enough for the team, as the middle order greatly needs him. Uthappa has been poor for Rajasthan in every match that they’ve played so far. Ben Stokes has reached UAE and is currently under quarantine. He would come straight to the team after his isolation ends.
In bowling Unadkat has been really poor for RR, with an economy of 11, 10.3 and 10 in the 3 matches. Jofra Arhcer has been bowling good but finds no support from the others. Tom Curran is okayish at the moment. Shreyas Gopal who got famous for bowling out Kohli on multiple ocassions has not shown any glimpse of genius so far. Rajasthan’s weakness at the moment is their middle order as well as an underperfoming bowling unit.
Who has a better chance to win?
Mumbai Indian would be a certain favourite for this match as they are in form at the moment and every player has performed at one time or the other, unlike Rajasthan Royals. Their blowing is vastly better than Rajasthan with Bumrah-Boult-Pattinson trio capable of seeing out any batting lineup.
Dream11 Predication
De Cock is a sure shot for the Dream11 as he’s in a great form at the moment. Rohit Sharma should also be included since it’s a big ground and once he settles, he could go for a big score. Ishan Kishan who is in great form should also be included as he bats up the order and has a decent number of balls to play. Pollard has taken Hardik’s place for me in the Dream11 as he bowls as well as bats for the Mumbai Indians. Hardik is yet to bowl and unless he does there are not enough balls left for him while batting to give him a place in the team. Pacers are taking more wickets in this year’s IPL and Mumbai have them in plenty. Bumrah doesn’t get more wickets because most batsmen respect him and are fearful to some extent. Picking Boult and Pattinson is a better option at this point. Suryakumar can also be added to the team as he plays a little sensibly because he has the time to do so.
From Rajasthan, Smith should be considered and so should Samson. Butler should not be kept in the team as he isn’t playing well at the moment. If Jaiswal plays, he should certainly be kept in the team as he would have ample time to play for a decent score while opening. In bowling, Archer is the first choice as he hits some good runs at the bottom as well as takes wickets. Parag has also played well in the last match and should be a good choice for Dream11 team. Curran is a good bowler and gets some runs at the bottom as well. He should be a good option from RR for your Dream11 team. If you want to take a chance you can go with Uthappa as a wildcard since he won’t be selected by many on the back of his bad form. A big ground could help him get some runs as he plays with a straight bat.
