IPL 2020 Qualifier- MI vs DC: Dream 11 Predication

Published:

IPL has finally reached its end with 4 teams, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore going into the qualification rounds. The first match is between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals the winner of which will go straight to the finals and loser will have another chance at the trophy. Let us look at the team news and try to predict a good Dream11 team.

Mumbai Indians (WLWWL)

Mumbai Indians have been the strongest team of this year. The team was so far ahead in the league that while others were fighting for places MI had the luxury to rest their best players. Their strength is also evident from their run rate of +1.107 which is the highest in the league the second-best being SRH’s +0.608. It is also the first time that a franchise has two uncapped players scoring more than 400 runs (Suryakumar Yadav and Ishaan Kishan). It has now become cliched but Mumbai Indians are indeed the most well-balanced team in the IPL. From top order to middle order to bowling, every area of the Mumbai bases franchise is in form.

Likely XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Rohit Sharma (c), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Nathan Coulter-Nile/James Pattinson, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah

Delhi Capitals (LLLLW)

Delhi Capitals started the season with a bang winning all of their first 5 matches. They were at the top for the first half of the league only to falter as the league progressed. They had a sure shot at the qualification but a poor form at the end (winning just 1 of last 5 matches) saw them fighting for the place in top 4. They have the lowest net run rate (-0.109) among the top 4 teams all thanks to their many losses by landslides. Their last encounter with MI also ended in an embarrassing loss when they were restricted for 110/9 and were chased down in just 14 overs.

DC have good top order and a very competitive bowling lineup. Their only weakness at the moment is their middle-order comprising of Pant, Stoinis, Patel, Rahane. They have been consistently performing poorly unable to take their team across the line.

Dream 11 Prediction

Quinton De Kock has been immense for Mumbai Indians same way Warner has been for SRH. He has amassed 773 points, the second-highest in this match from both teams. He should be the first man on the teamsheet. IN the last match that these two teams played against each other, Ishan Kishan made 72 off 47 balls. Since the game is on the same ground, expect him to play well. Dhawan has made back to back centuries after which his form dropped a bit but with 741 points in the Dream11, he could not be taken a chance against. Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have made more than 400 runs in this year’s IPL. This is only the first time that a team has two uncapped players scoring more than 400 runs. If Mumbai’s strength could be pinpointed to a single area, this is where it would land. MI have an exceptionally talented group of young players, who are performing way better than the best players of other teams. Of the 14 games the SKY has played, he has been in the Dream Team 10 times, which tells you all about his consistency. Pollard has a knack of performing in the big games. He is known to play better as the IPL progresses into the later stages. Expect him to play a big knock either in the qualifier or the final.

The bowling attack on either side is equally stacked up. Rabada, the highest points earner in this game with 780 eclipses even the likes of Bumrah and Boult. No one in their right mind could advise you to drop any one of these three. Nortje is another bowler that gets wickets consistently as batsmen are not able to hit Rabada. Pacers take more wickets on this ground so picking many spinners would be advised against but you can go for one or two spinners as this is a big ground and spinners often trick batsmen into giving high catches at the boundary line. Any of Patel, Chahar and Ashwin would be picked from as they don’t have much advantage over one another.

Likely XI: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, Daniel Sams, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje

Captain/ Vice Captain

De Kock, Bumrah, Boult and Rabada all offer great potential for captain and vice-captain. If the pitch plays anywhere close to last time, the bowlers could have a field day. De Kock is always threatening at the top similar to Dhawan who could also be made captain/ vice-captain.

Wildcard

Pandya (18.6%), Hetmyer(3.03%), Tiwary(4.78%), and Danial Sams (8.55%) all four offer great wildcard choice for Dream11 players. All these players are selected by a very small percentage of Dream 11 players which means their success could potentially win you games if you select them in your team.
