RR vs CSK: Dream 11 Predictions IPL 2020

IPL has so far seen 3 cracking games. All three went right down to the wire and despite no crowd were extremely good to watch. The fourth match is between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. Let us look at their form and Dream 11 prediction.

Team Form
Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians in their first match, and quite easily so. Ambati Rayudu seems to have found his form back from a couple of years ago. With a match-winning performance of 71 runs in 48 balls, Rayudu had stamped his arrival in this year’s IPL. Du Plessis, another CSK veteran saw through the hurdles and got CSK to the end. T20 is one format of the game where a good bowling performance seems to be more important than everyone batting well. If a batsman fails to score big runs or eats some balls it doesn’t matter much in the context of the game but if even a single bowler has a bad day, it could inflate the score by 20-30 runs. That could well be the difference between winning and losing. It was CSK’s bowling that earned them the win. Every one of CSK bowlers took a wicket against MI. Ngidi was the deadliest with the ball, taking 3 wickets, with Chahar and Jadeja getting 2 each.

Rajasthan Royals

RR have not played a game yet, this will be their first in the IPL 13. Captained by Steve Smith, RR seem weak on paper. Although they have Uthappa their middle-order looks inexperienced. RR will be without Josh Butler and Ben Stokes in their first match. Their availability is still uncertain at the moment. Stokes is still in New Zealand and although he has started practicing by the time he arrives in UAE, the tournament could well be over for the Rajasthan team.

RR also lack quality spinners which could be problematic for spin-friendly UAE wickets. Shreyash Gopal who dismissed Kohli and ABD in consecutive deliveries could be the surprise element for RR. Although there are other experienced pace bowlers in the team like Archer, Aaron, and others, their current form is still to be seen. Miller is another player who has blown hot and cold in the past couple of years so he would be a huge gamble for Dream 11 players.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, the under 19 player should be on everyone’s radar if he plays the match. He has great potential as he has shown in the under 19 world cup.

Ground Report

The tracks were expected to be spin-friendly in UAE but 3 games so far have proven to be otherwise. There is no advantage seen for the spin bowlers in the other two stadiums. This is the first game in Sharjah stadium so pitches behavior is still not known. Bowling, however, is bound to be difficult in the second innings as there would certainly be dew.

Dream 11 Predictions

I’ll go right ahead and say that putting Dhoni in the team would be a huge gamble. CSK have a good top order, one that plays well consistently. Du Plessis, Watson, Vijay, Rayudu all are known to play big innings. CSK’s top order is a dream 11 dreamland. You could pick any or all and be sure to get good points. Even if two players among these play well, it leaves no time for Dhoni to come and bat. Dhoni often promotes other players when there are few balls left and there will be many games where he would do that this year. Steve Smith should definitely be on the team. He plays well and is a very good fielder too. It will take a few games to figure out which other players from RR are in form until then you should put only the experienced players in the dream 11 team.
